I simply cannot understand why people would want to go and sweat for two weeks in some filthy hot country, let alone lie in the sun and get skin cancer. In my limited experience of second-rate hotels there is seldom decent air conditioning and the rooms usually have a view of some dull water, or the roof of a restaurant with vents, or the hotel car park. I have to travel on business to hot dirty countries where people have no manners and MTV culture is all they know but at least I'm being paid to do it, I can stay in nice hotels and I don't have to make a pretence of enjoying myself.
Still, mustn't grumble, eh.

A more reasoned response would have been to allow people to make their own mind up... people have vastly different perceptions of risk and what is or isn't acceptable.

Hmm, perceived risk. Indeed.

So according to a famous search engines results, in 2012 13Million Brits went on holiday abroad in the summer. 6000 Brits died abroad in the whole year.

"From 2005 to 2013, 38 Britons were killed in terrorist attacks abroad" - C4

So even if the trend is up this year, basically the chances of a terrorist attack killing you is pretty slim.

I'll warrant that road safety, sunburn and alcohol should be your primary concern.

You didn't take User's advice to go back and familiarise yourself with some aspects of his past then?
A/ have you any idea just how many posts he has made?
B/I have no interest in his dream worlds. Of if they had any value he would have told us!

Not been there done that, unlike reg!! If I had been there and done that, I would hope, that I would keep my mouth shut about it. Having not been there and done that I can't say what I would do unlike User.
