I think I'll be doing the long route, hope it isn't raining.

Gonna be doing it on my hybrid rather than my road bike as my mate is attempting it on an MTB.. could be interesting!

Bugger! Despite my p1ss-taking, a ride around the IoW would do me good but the Doris has plans. Weather looks fine, so you all enjoy yourselves.

13 of us had a glorious anticlockwise ride from Yarmoth around the island today, clear blue skies, light cooling breeze, great views and good bonhommie. Lots of cyclists out for the BHF event, a squadron of old Nortons, another of Broughs. Lots opf happy chatty people. Great lunch at the Cafe at Bebridge and a fabulous sunset from the ferry back to Lymington. It's hard to think of a more perfect days cycling.

If you enjoyed that try the much better Round the Island Randonee in May. Very much better organised and there are food and drink stops organised all the way round, two of them by school PTAs unlike BHF which when I have done it in the past is on a try and find an open cafe basis.

Yep, we've heard much talk about the Randonee today, but here'd the rub, we weren't part of the BHF thing, we were never short of food or a place to eat and drink and we didn't have to worry about cards, routes, maps or entry fees, just 13 people following the standard signs pedalling round a nice route. Easy-Peasy.

The Randonee is free too and iits up to you whether you bother with the cards, routes or maps. If you want the stamped card and certificate to say you've done it do the cards. If not just cycle round with lots of other cyclists and enjoy the food laid on at the various stops.
