I'll have you know that I have met @dave r. And ridden with him. Oh, and by an amazing coincidence, also worked with him for a few weeks about 30 years ago! (We worked out that we were working in the same small factory in the Midlands at the same time, but we don't remember each other from then.)

Oh, and I've met you too, strange Leeds fella!

As far as we know, we didn't meet, but my group of schoolmates used to hang about with a group of girls from the same school and same year as Speicher, so we probably came very close to meeting.

I went to a party at her school once in about 1974 - I can't remember what it was in aid of, but I remember Pink Floyd's Careful with That Axe, Eugene blasting out!

That is nearly forty years ago now, and I do not remember that party. Perhaps I wasn't invited.

I've got CC stickers stuck on the sides of my helmet *** but nobody yet has ridden up alongside me and asked who I am on the forum.

I once had the strange experience of CC member @sackville d riding up to me on the Nick O'Pendle climb from Sabden and asking if I was ColinJ! He happens to ride the same type of rare Basso steel frame as me so he had noticed my posts on CC featuring my bike. He lives about 5 miles down the road from me and spotted that I was doing a forum ride that day, and came out in search of us.
