I have just one cycling top left.My works team, the team i started.Royal Mail. That top will have to be destroyed. My son has been today and taken the best three tops and the brand new summer tights. The rest much older stuff went in a Slaters carrier bag, well if you are going out.go out in style. The shoes also went out in a Slaters bag,so that's it,it has been great.Cycling saved my life i took it up late 86 or early 87,to fill in the long empty days going through my divorce, when i had to stop doing overtime,to show a basic wage to the court for payments.Thank you cycling for the scenery the cake the bacon sarnies the coffee the places the cafes just everything.I now need a new hobby,i might just trawl charity shops for second hand fashionable clothes.I don't think anyone has thought of that.

Why are you stopping?

Sometimes it is worth keeping a few bits and pieces of good times from "the old days"

just because

works for me to some extent

but everyone is different so don;t take what I say as important!

I binned all my skateboarding gear from the 70s & 80s that my Mum & Dad had been storing while I was working abroad and I returned.
I rue that day now. I've got worse stuff in the loft right now with less memories attached. I'm sure there is a lesson in there somewhere.

It can go too far

I still have my Mum's wedding dress

and no - I wasn;t there in person!!!

and i have no clue what to do with it

can;t just lob it into the bin

keep intending to find a theatre group or something and ask if they can use it
it is not even a "white Wedding Dress" type thing - just a very smart knee length very smart blue dress

Just over three years ago i got a Lymphoma cancer,i got through that, then i got vertigo for about six weeks, that went, but then neuropathy struck my feet and stayed. So this March i began training on my turbo on the lawn about 200 miles before a proper ride with my son,i knew it would be hard and it was.But i went out with my daughter, then my two best cycling pals, and it was always the same problem.Thumping heads, short of breath,Well after two failed stopped rides,i saw the quack and got hospital appointments, they found a missing heartbeat plus a bigger shock hiatus hernia,i am resting awaiting further investigations,i will be 77 in Feb,the hernia op is a long recovery and it means messing with food,so it's not worth having the op.and at 77 it will take longer to get fitness back up to doing good mileage,so i have decided it's time to hang up the bike,my son is having that also, his face today when i gave him his name decals which i bought for him was a picture at 30 he is still a youngun and has got many years of cycling ahead of him.Plus as you may know my little brother has just lost his lovely wife, and is in pieces,i have no idea what lays ahead for him because he might also lose his house,2027 is going to be fun.

Sad, but must do all you can to restore your health.

Would shortening the distance be an option for you? Even if going nowhere/on the trainer.
I'm thinking more of keeping a level of fitness, when there's health issues than in trying to convince you not to stop cycling.

Would what you're living with be easier deal with, or would the cycling make things worse. I don't know, just throwing ideas at you. You can always throw them back if they're no good, or anything else. Just give me a chance to duck first.

Causes of a hiatus hernia

It's not clear what causes a hiatus hernia. Anyone can have one, but it's more common if you're over 50, pregnant or overweight. Well i only have one of those.guess.

Zwift has loads of bots at low wkgs, and can become very sociable if you wanted to keep the legs turning over, even at low intensity. If you ride at the same sort of time each day you will start to recognise the same names, etc

Definitely keep the RM jersey - would hou frame it?
