I pop back occasionally into the pro race section which is lively and well informed but the rest of it is pretty dire.

And uphill from there for CC.

Isn't that a bit big headed:biggrin:

Definitely better here than the old C+.

After the merge you became aware that people were leaving the sinking ship ... but I didn't immediately work out where they went.

We (the first rats off the old ship) did try to come and fetch a few, but I think I remember dissent was stamped on by the new moderators at Bike Radar and we couldn't always get heard....

It was a heady time - C+ was a stupidly important thing for me, for various reasons, and finding the Cyclechat haven was wonderful.

Exactly!
I was on C+, but wasnt on there for long, only a few weeks, or a month or something, before it went, then i ended up at BikeRadar, and followed a link to here. Here didnt seem busy so i stayed with BR for abit. Then, i came here again not long after and recognised peoples names that i had seen on the C+ forum and stayed:becool:

I hadn't realised how much I liked C+ until it changed. And the problem was most of us didn't want it to be different - if we did we'd have gone elsewhere. The visual changes I'd have got over, but there were culture clashes between merged forums and unfamiliar moderators seemed heavy handed at a time when people wanted to be reassured, not picked on. I remember one from the MTB side who was a technical guru but incredibly abrasive.

A few influential people said they coming over here so I took a look and liked what I saw. I think CC has bettered the old C+ forums and to be fair the non-forum parts of Bike Radar aren't bad.

Barnet,
I was on the C+ site for a couple of years until the day when I couldn't log on. I found out my user name had changed slightly and then saw the link to this place. I never went back. Many familier names and since that day 2 years back many new ones..:becool:

I joined at the end of the C+ stage, around March I think. I was away over the summer when the change happened and when I returned it was Bikeradar. It took me a few weeks to realize that the spark I'd seen when I joined was gone and finally it was a post asking where Fnaar was and a reply linking to CC that led me over here and very glad I am I found it.

Many who start threads on here also start them on BR. It is a busy thriving community, as is this. No better, no worse.

No doubt you're right hambones....otherwise they'd have jumped ship to somewhere else.
Is it really two years  I'd been with C+ (with a different ID)for a good while and loved it, although it too could be abrasive at times.

Then came the tie up with BR...and personally i hated the page layout with a vengeance, it just seemed so sterile and unwieldy. But thats a personal thing, no doubt others loved it.

Never been back to BR since CC started. Never felt the need.

I noticed some similar thread titles last time I was there. BR seems to be doing very well. After the initial change to the forums, things quickly settled down. And to agree with an earlier post, I find the other sections of the BR site really useful.

On reflection (and my initial views have changed since then) I don't think what happened was a big deal. People got upset. Clearly forum life can mean a great deal to some people and play a large part in their everyday lives. If OTOH you don't look on it as being that significant a part of your life, then changes to it don't really matter all that much.
