Hi Guys,

Not been here for a while, I've had a pretty tough 2-3 months including two funerals and two weeks off work with stress. I think I am pretty much sorted now though, back at work but fitness and health has taken a bit of a back seat, so I am hoping you buys can re-inspire me to get back out on my bike.

However, my confidence has been tainted by the amount of accidents I have been seeing about in the papers now that the winter has dawned on us... it kinda puts me off a bit (some of you who know me will know what I do), and I am hearing some full on horror stories at the minute. Perhaps I should stick to the MTB during the winter?

Anyway, its good to be back... what did I miss?!

Peace Out,

ThinAir

Hi and welcome back.:hello:
The media love to publicise accidents and horror stories. Its what they do.
Thousands of cyclists go out every day with no accidents. I've cycled for around 50 yrs and never seen one.
Don't worry needlessly.
Get your bike out and go for a spin and enjoy it.
I'm glad you've managed to sort yourself out. Good for you. It's not always easy.
Remember the old song lyrics, " Always look on the bright side of life"
Do the things that make you happy, ride your bike and enjoy the world around you.:wahhey:
What did you miss? Loads!
Check out whats been going on between riding your bike^_^
I wish you all the best.

Mix up the commute. I'm hopefully back on the bike in another week. Been off work 5 weeks following surgery, so giving the wound an extra week (after cutting off the dis-solvable stitches that didn't dissolve). I'm just glad to finish the anti-biotics as I've been getting very bloated (or is that just the in-activity)

I plan on riding the MTB and the Fixed. Will take the MTB at first as I can stop pedalling if things getting uncomfy.

So, don't plan of every day on the bike. It will certainly lift your mood.

Cheers Joe.. don't get me started on the Media! Unfortunately as a cop, I see too many accidents involving cyclists!

Its not myself I worry about, its the majority of motorists who just don't have a clue that boil my pee!

Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time of it.
The best thing I've done is get back on my bike (I use trails/cycle paths etc). It's taken me 6 years but I'm loving it and it has certainly helped lift my mood after some difficult years of ill-health etc.
I love my MTB

Just thought I'd say hello as I'm quite new here

Nice to meet you SL...

Thankfully I have only been out of the saddle for around 3months, and yeah, thankfully everything is sorted. I live in Manchester, so have awesome trails right on my doorstep... I suppose I just need to bite the bullet and get back out there and stop finding excuses...

I lived in Prestwich quite a few years back (just off the Heaton Park - didn't bike then!).
I made excuses all summer but finally got back on my bike in October.
Now I'm kicking myself for missing that good weather we had in the summer!!

Welcome back Chinzur.

Sorry to hear about the stress - it's not very nice and Doctors are pretty useless at giving any good advice.

I MTB along canal banks etc in winter - good fun and you meet some nice people.

Doctor was pretty useless in all fairness, just wanted me to call someone as a self referral for counselling... I am still waiting for a call back for an assessment, never mind anything else... thankfully, the occupational health and welfare people at work have been A1, and things are back to normal now

Welcome back, Thin Hair, I'm glad that you've pretty much sorted things. Sounds like you've had a horrible couple of months. I hope things start looking up
