So, I've got a nice bike - its a lovely '88 531ST Raleigh Randonneur with full mudguards and Audax Ecosse Custom Mudflaps and all the trimmings. But I still need to take it with me as I go on various road trips totalling 25-35k per annum across Scotland.

I'm interested in an automatic coupled to a highly tax efficient engine capable of 300miles in a day (sorry not full leccy). My driving style is fairly relaxed and I'm thinking motorway cruiser rather than backstreets thrasher.

The thing must be frugal and able to easily carry my full size bike with only removal of the front wheel. 4WD would be nice and satnav/rear view camera a must.

Any ideas you lovely people?

PS: I'd been driving a C220 which is very pleasant - but can't get a bike in it!

Skoda Yeti or Octavia estate. 4WD versions available, either will take several bikes with ease

I have a diesel Renault Captur. I can put my bike in the back by just putting back seat down. No need to remove front wheel. Motorway driving will return at least 65mpg at speed limit.

Hi Gavroche, I'm sure you can - but I really don't think my bike would. Its a full sized tourer - 23.1/2" frame with full mudguards and flaps which I just don't take off.

I have just had a Peugeot 3008 delivered as a hire car for work. You'd get a bike in the back of this thing no worries but not sure on the mpg yet.
