Someone's imaginary friend
I spent a while this morning searching around the internet for a 'facepalm' smilie to register my reaction to the subject matter of this thread, as this forum doesn't have one. During my search, I clicked on such a smilie and the little beggar launched a virus onto my laptop, which took it over, disabled all of the applications and then tried to charge me money for unlocking it all. Bah! Cue, me having to make a 90mile round trip to work so that they could fix it for me to meet a deadline I have this afternoon. That'll bl**dy teach me to get drawn into threads about t*ts, eh?

We have a vast array of smilies over at the LGC forum, and we don't have an exact facepalm.

We do have this one, however:

Which is close enough for me.

What is(are) the reason(s) for exposing cleavage? (Seriously!)

If it is done for thermal regulation, fair enough, but otherwise it has always struck me as being a bit odd. Look, but don't look. See, but don't see.

Okay, it is nicer than the builder's bum look, but it is basically the same thing.

That's unlucky. I'd have thought you'd be more likely to download a virus if you surfed for cleavages.

Why is it that there's this idea that you mustn't look? Looking is natural. Looking is okay.

What's not okay is when that's the only thing someone looks at, when sex becomes the only aspect of a woman by which she is defined. Looking is fine. Discussing said cleavage as if its owner is nothing more than a means of locomotion for it, or discussing the owner as if the exposure of said cleavage is the equivalent of a sign saying "Please grope me" is not okay.

If I am having a conversation with someone then I expect that someone to have a conversation with me, not my breasts or any other part of me that is not capable of conversation.

Women are people, with likes, dislikes, passions, beliefs, sensitivities, skills, abilities, talents, personalities and everything else that people have. They like to feel good about themselves, part of which is the feeling of being attractive. They are not animated sex toys whose only purpose in life is as an object of sexual gratification. There is a middle ground and it's very easy to achieve. Looking is fine: staring is not. Commenting politely that you find someone attractive is perfectly acceptable and even flattering: saying you would rub cream all over her and leave her unable to walk for a week is most definitely not.

Why is this so difficult to understand?
