If Lancashire's so fantastic, how come the good people of Saddleworth - now in Lancs having been stolen from Yorkshire in 1974 - keep replacing the white rose sticker they added to their town sign every time Oldham Council remove it?

(I'm right Yorkshire, exiled in That London as an economic migrant)

If Yorkshire's so fantastic, how come the good people of Todmorden (now completely in Yorkshire) continue to play cricket in the Lancashire League?

"...............do you feel better now?"

"...yes, fine. Don't know what it was but I just felt awful"

[Mrs CP to me as we drove eastbound over Saddleworth moor on the M62 and back towards nirvana]

And I've never heard anyone from Tod complain about not being in Lancashire any more...

I've never heard anyone from Saddleworth complain about being in Lancashire. The white rose grafitti is probably by yobs from down the road...

Actually Oldham Council are lucky. There were nutcases in East Yorks who used to blow up the Humberside signs with explosives

Ahem........cough...........

It's a sticker, about 5 inches in diameter. My mate's married to a Saddleworth lass - at their wedding her family hardly shut up about it. Her dad was almost in tears at one point (but that might have been the JW Lees "beer").

Much as I love Lancashire, you won't catch me defending JW Lees beer!
