Our fire will have been lit 5 times at least in the past fortnight!
It's due a service soon, so it'll be getting turned on again when they do service it. To check it works okay.

I am renting a house from my sister. There is a gas fire in my living room which needed servicing so I asked her to just get the gas fitter to disconnect it; that is one less thing to check for the gas safety certificate! (I have two big central heating radiators in the room so I was never going to use the fire anyway, and the best place for my TV is directly in front of the fireplace ...)

Saw one guy cycling in shorts yesterday. The rest varied from thermal/cycling top & longs but no gloves (me) to full on winter warrior; full gloves, buff, overshoes...the lot. What are these folk going to do when it actually gets cold?

Heating's on for an hour each morning and evening now. I work from home so when it gets a bit chilly in the afternoon I pop a sweater on. Having said that I'm in a t shirt now
I was out Friday in shorts, intend to be again either tonight or tomorrow depends how the day works out, I also work from home some days I find it's my feet that get cold sa at the desk, even with 2 pairs of socks on.

Ah, the annual, I'm-tougher-than-you pissing contest thread!
It's as regular as Halloween...
I like to think of it as the " bioprene lardy outing" thread. ;)

still in a tshirt here . so yes I am a lardy ( but not as much as last year)

long sleeve shirts for work when I come back after annual leave next week. and time to grow the beard again. ( mainly for fancy dress at Christmas parties )

Well, we made it to November without putting the heating on.
Got to say the weather has been almost tropical of late, might see if we can make it to December! :heat::heat:
You're down South today though!

I scraped ice off the car windscreen when I finished w*rk a short while ago :cold:

That's probably why I had the central heating on in the truck while I was waiting to be loaded earlier :okay:

I didn't put the heating on when I got up this morning but it is the first time since February that I thought about it. The outside temperature had dropped to 1.9 degrees C when I went to bed and may have fallen further since then - I will check later.

I am using extra heating in just one room at the moment. Heat from cooking warms the kitchen, and heat from the shower warms the bathroom. I am happy for my bedroom and landing to be chilly.

I don't have a sophisticated thermostat on the heating system so I just have the temperature set to minimum and switch it on at sunset. That is enough to slowly raise the room temperature from about 14 degrees to 18 through the evening just as my metabolism winds down for the day and I would be feeling the cold.
