Reading some of these posts it seems that heating is a source of conflict for a lot of you.
I used to have to have that problem with my g/f and her daughter. I would be wearing shorts and t-shirt, them sleeveless dresses designed for appearance rather than warmth. Inevitably, one or both of them would complain about feeling cold!

I said that the solution was to leave the heating off and for them to put jumpers on.

The alternative solution was to put the gas wall heater on and for me to sit there naked to avoid overheating. They put jumpers on ...

It would still be an issue now because I don't like to heat above 18 or 19 degrees, but I will put the heating more than I used to because I am less comfortable at really low temperatures than I was when I was obese, and I want to keep my clot-prone legs healthy.

Our heating has been 'on' all summer but never fired up, so costing nothing. In the last couple of weeks it actually fired up and warmed downstairs a couple of times, upstairs fired up for the first time the other morning. As the two thermostats are set up on different programs I expect we will see the radiators coming on more and more as the outside temperature falls.

I have underfloor downstairs and rads upstairs, when it gets cooler upstairs will come on at 4.30am for an hour and stay off until the next day, downstairs will stay on continously until about next May at a guess. It seems it is the best way to run our system and is amazingly economical, in comparison to other houses we have lived in.

It is 12.9 degrees here in the shade. It will be warmer in the direct sunshine but there is a breeze blowing so it will not be THAT warm.

I think the time of day, how you slept the night before, what you have eaten, whether you have exercised that day*** etc. make a huge difference to how you feel at a given temperature.

I have just eaten a hot meal and am drinking a big mug of tea. I feel fine at the moment and it is only 13.5 degrees in this room. If I'd had a cold drink and was eating ice cream, I wouldn't!

*** I got home late after a 200 km audax ride one November. I had been fine while cycling in the chilly conditions, but once I stopped my body temperature soon plummeted. I felt too tired to cook so I just ate a couple of sandwiches. I started to feel really cold so I sat directly in front of my gas wall heater but could not get warm. I ended up in bed with 3 or 4 layers of clothing on and extra bedding on top of the duvet but it still took me over an hour to stop shivering.
