It's so much better commuting by bike when you don't have to.

when I only cycled to work three days a week I didn't like cycling on days it rained, I still cycled, but didn't enjoy it. Now I cycle everyday, I don't even think about not cycling. I just get ready and go. (I'm not even sure where the car keys are)

I still don't like cycling in the rain, but I do it, whereas I used to walk with my umbrella -and end up just as wet really.

I could get Woman to run me in, or TWOC her car, but short of extreme weather - 4 feet if snow or 70 MPH winds for example - I just plain old prefer to ride. In a short space of time it's become my routine, diesnt get a second thought any more.

My car has spiderwebs hanging from both wing mirrors.
I do drive to work from time to time, but I feel sorry for the spiders.

 I also have a spider farm living between the wing mirror and our drive pillar. Yesterday I needed the car, and took a whopping great stripey spider, which was hanging on for dear life, whilst I was doing 50+ in places to get to my dental appointment. I flicked it off towards another car after parking, but it turned around and headed straight back towards my car . I had to go, so I don't know it then road home with me again.

Hehe, nice one.
I was driving on the M-way once and this spider was clinging on for dear life. I'm amazed how strong their webs are! It was frantically doing web repair jobs all the time, as well catching loads of free lunches, so not all bad news! ^_^

When I didn't drive I had to commute by bicycle every day, and after a while on occasion I would really resent it, especially on days with horrible weather. Today would have been one of those days, but I had the choice, car or bike and I chose bike.
I agree.

I never *Have* to cycle in, in fact I have many ways to commute one of which is faster, easier and only sightly more expensive than cycling. So every ride is a choice and it make it so much more enjoyable.

If I had no choice then riding (or for that matter motorcycling or walking) would all no doubt eventually feel a little like a chore.

Driving to work for me is faster, easier and alot cheaper than cycling:wacko: .
I would be a little crazy to drive around for 90 minutes instead of driving straight to work in 5 to 10 minutes.

Yes I do.
Train, car, bus or bike.

same here almost. except not car as driving into central london was always madness even before the congestion charge.

I hate having to come to work on the tube/train/bus. sweaty BO riddled eastern european armpit in my mush at 06.00 is not my idea of travel and i really do hate having to use the tube. when i had Labyrinthitis and was forced to use the tube i really hated it.

I must be weird cos I love cycling in the rain, I hate the wind tho  ... I've commuted to work without missing a day in 15 month now,, it's a bit bum clenching when it's icy but I just think of the car journey which is 15 mins longer or the bus journey, one hour longer and the bike wins every time

Same choice for me car or bike.
Bike won.Once your wet you dont get any wetter.
The only time i use the car for work is when i have stuff to carry between sites that wont fit in the panniers.
Anyway riding into the wind and trying to keep the speed up is good training.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
The wife has the car, i am insured to drive it and i have not had my own insurance or car in over 15 years .
If the weather is so bad i cant cycle i ask a co -worker who lives close for a lift as i am as he calls " dig out help if we get stuck in the snow".
The only other time i would use my own car is if i had to be back home extra quick for dentist etc or when the wife was about to drop sprog #2. No public transport to work so i have no excuses .
Milage is down this year as work is slow and we have been off 1 day a week on average and if i am at home you can bet i will have "jobs " to do or to busy with the kids.
