Still in T-shirt and shorts.....less sweat though GREAT !!!!
Me too. It's fresh first thing, though, but soon warms up. I did go for a long sleeve top one day last week when it was cooler, but it's warmer again down here. Still, if I was off out in the dark like HobbesChoice I think I'd be layering up a bit ..

Oh dear! I'm already into my thermals and long sleeves first thing! I did think this morning that I'm going to suffer when the weather really does change. I am heading out at 5am though. ;)

My ride home is just short sleeve t-shirt and gillet with cycling shorts so I'm not a total wimp!

Still in shorts here but long sleeved top and gloves with fingers in, I use a cheap weather station thing off Ebay to tell me what the outside temp is, not foolproof but useful, above 12 c I can do short sleeves shorts and fingerless gloves, 10 c suggests I might like long sleeves and full gloves, fine down to about 4c and then its thick gloves and layers.

Did my first full winter and it was fine, I made sure my gear was in the house and warm rather than with the bike in the garage, when its really cold its nice to go out a bit too warm and relish the cold air, rather than putting cold gear on and trying to warm up.

And if its icy, i.e. properly icy, not dry cold, forget it is my advice, better to miss a day than to injure yourself and potentially miss months due to broken bones.

Shorts too - Maybe at 7 degrees it gets chilly if your routes downhill but in the mornings I am uphill so tend to stay warm.
Coming back it's still 17 degrees ish but the mornings here change daily 5 degrees C either way.

Yes the freshness wakes you up but then you get nice and warm.Am i the only one who gets funny looks from people huddled in bus shelters all wrapped up while i'm still in "summer" gear !

I've had under-gloves, winter mitts, leggings, buff and winter jacket on for the last 3-4 weeks.

Cold (+2/3) in the mornings, but a lot warmer in the afternoons, so I have to carry a full backpack of not-needed clothes on the journey home.

Same here for me, leaving the house at 4.45am it is a little chilly, but, a good bit warmer on the ride home at 6pm.;)

Don't you just warm up??! In the morning, I kick off with a climb (not huge: 200ft or so) over the first mile and I learnt last winter to start off just a little bit chilly so as to not be hot once I'd warmed up.

I have this - I go downhill 1/4 mile then the next 1/4 mile is a nasty little hill which sets you up as to how your rides going to be. If your feeling under the weather this hill will let you know your gonna have a hard ride. Then after 5 mins it's another hill.
This morning it was 4.2 degrees C. Just had my shorts vest, Long sleeve Jersey and showerproof jacket which lasted about 10 mins before being put away.
Getting too cold for my knees though, they really suffer under 6 degrees C.

Last Winter, I became quite adept at knowing what layers to wear depending on the Min Temp for overnight quoted on the previous evening's weather forecast: "if it's less than this, add another layer" kind of thing. Bggrd if I can remember any of the numbers now though.

Get a Wireless weatherstation from Lidl.
You can see how cold it is outside and dress accordingly - Job done !

What do you mean cold? Bloody wimps!

Us Geordies don't call it BBQ weather until it's at least -5 deg and may go out wearing only a T-shirt at around -10 deg. At -20 we might say its a little bit nippy and wear a cloth cap while walking the whippets in our shorts

Cold! it's still summer man

still full summer kit down in Lahnden for me

plenty of other into longs etc, heaven knows why

I strongly suspect if I wear anything more the ladies of the house will insist on the heating going on rather than just mooching around pointedly wrapped up in jumpers, pah

I've found with experience you don't always need to wear quite as much as you first thought. I divide the coldness up into below 10°C, then about 4°C, and below minus 9°C when it's the full works. Perhaps I am getting old, but I do tend to feel the cold a tad more than previously, but try to acclimatise rather than be tempted to put too much on. You do get used to colder weather this way.

I still can't get over characters commuting in shorts in cold damp air at about 6°C though!
