I wonder why most of you make fun of the Catholic Church, yet you don't do it to the Muslims or any other faith for that matter.

I'm guessing it's because the RC church is comical and hypocritical in a ghastly way whereas the other belief systems are just ghastly.
Other views may be held!

Plus of course, making fun of Judaism is oft met with accusations of anti Semitism.

And why are people so willing to accept this is 'normal'?

A good point numbnuts. If people make fun of Muslims then we are called racists, but we think it's acceptable to make fun of the Christian Church because it's "our" religion. That is like a black person using the N word and thinking it ok because they are of that race, which often happens, especially in rap music. Does this make it ok? I really don't know, but society seems to think so.

I'll happily make fun of any religion...

Everyone has the right to believe what they like be it a God, fairies at the bottom of the garden or frogs and toads that gather after dark to sit smoke some weed and drink special brew dressed as little red riding hood, but I also have the right to find it all equally ridiculous.

Very true, you can only laugh at the uniform of a "Beefeater". However they are not as funny as the uniform of the Swiss Guard ........ the Pope wins again.

I don't think people level humour at the little old lady who goes to church every week for 60 years, or the man attending Friday prayers.

They launch it towards the people that 'lord' it over these 'real' people - the pope, the bishops, the dodgy kiddy-fiddling priests, the abusive reform school nuns, the Iman with one eye, one hand, one boll*ck......the list goes on.

'Real' people just going about their faith in peace and quiet is one thing....spreading hate and inciting hatred towards a group of people (gay/lesbian) in the name of religion (which is make believe) is a totally different kettle of eggs.

I'm quite happy to snigger at all the Abrahamic faiths equally, it's just that these days the Catholics are getting all the headlines, whether it be molesting children, locking up young women or putting on a really over the top camp show of excess whilst claiming poverty and obediance is what God wants.
