Then take the cd that you have, open windows media player, see if you can import the files. No, it was mostly my old CD's.
Edit: it will probably ask you if you want to import the files.

can you not rip the cd/dvs to your computer with windows media player?
Oh thank you, you're very kind. I'm not going to think about it much more tonight. I was up til 2AM last night installing itunes and updating my iphone! You should be able to add folder to library. Somewhere in the iTunes preferences is an option to copy media to the iTunes library completely, rather than just referencing the existing location of the music. You will need to tick that option before trying again.
When I'm in front of a PC again tomorrow ill double check the setting and post back here (on my iPhone at the moment).

I think thats what I did earlier but that the tracks wouldn't play unless the disc was in the disc drive. Have you chcked yours works without the disc?right sarah iv just done this exact thing ,put the disc in drive and copy it as per ,the content will go to my music (if running standard windows, log into itunes and click the file tab at top left ,and import new folder ,this opens up a sub menu ,select my music (one click )and then a wee tab saying save/open is underneath ,click this and it transfers all your music into itunes (and btw im rubbish with comps so its dead easy)![]()

yep ,all done and working ,the important bit is to import folder ,not just play it via itunesI think thats what I did earlier but that the tracks wouldn't play unless the disc was in the disc drive. Have you chcked yours works without the disc?
Does it say add folder (as opposed to import folder?), I've tried that but I'm not getting the my music>save options.right sarah iv just done this exact thing ,put the disc in drive and copy it as per ,the content will go to my music (if running standard windows, log into itunes and click the file tab at top left ,and import new folder ,this opens up a sub menu ,select my music (one click )and then a wee tab saying save/open is underneath ,click this and it transfers all your music into itunes (and btw im rubbish with comps so its dead easy)![]()
No! My brother in law had a go the other night - he's meant to be an itunes expert (self professed!) but he couldn't do it either!Sara_H did you sort it?
You need to copy the music files over to your computer first, then run the import folder option so it knows they exist. easy enough to do, just yell if you need some more assistance.
