Any tips for non-smoking parents of a smoker to quit ? (hope that makes sense)
Sons been working away for several years, but now living at home. Any suggestions we make are met with indifference...
It will probably have to be his decision. However, my 81 year-old mother still goes outside to smoke, so he can too.

See if you can get him to give an e cig a try, none of the elites rubbish, a real e cig that is rebuildable and you have to work them to make them work...............if that makes any sense

Anyhow this thread is now duplicating the work of two other threads over in the health forum http://www.cyclechat.net/forums/health-fitness-and-training.36/

Might I suggest that any new quitting/ quitting support/ quitting questions get posted over in the threads there where there's a pool of counsellors waiting to share their misery/happiness/congratulations/commiserations.

Meanwhile potential quitters try this three point quitting strategy.

Don't buy
Don't scrounge

I stopped smoking by not buying any cigarettes.

No fuss.

No nonsense.

No hyperbole.

That is all.
I quit alcohol in the same manner, just under 5 years ago. I did scare myself into it, though . One afternoon, I was starting to get stuck into my usual run of drinks, and felt uncomfortable in the chest. My liver felt like it was about to reprise the chest-bursting scene from Alien, and my heart was pumping extremely heavily. I poured the remains of the drink in the kitchen sink, and didn't touch another drop of alcohol that day or any since. I hardly got any sleep that night, either, and am convinced I was very, very close to having a heart attack. A check at a local GP showed my cholesterol was 9.5 and blood pressure about 200/120, and I was 20kg overweight and unfit.

The more you moan the less likely he will be to quit. Before I stopped if I watched a nhs stop smoking advert I would spark one up.
