I leave mine in the garage most of the time, despite beeing quit old and well used it doesnt smell anything other than "hairy", not cheesy or anything, ditto my shoes, I am just not smelly, apart from my farts that are pure evil......

Febreeze smells wonderful, women spend hundreds of pounds of acrid and pungent perfume, three or four quids worth of Febreeze would be way more effective !

Its saving feature was the lack of attatchments, theres some things in life a girl just dont wanna see..........................

Well put the things you do want to see on a list and us men can use it as an aide memoire.

Try it without the foam bands to see if it is comfy. I removed mine and picked out the velcro bits and the smell goes with the foam.

I wash the foam bands, but the smell stays. My wife now refuses to let me bring it into the house. Do I need to buy a new one? Or is there some way of cleaning the styrofoam / polystyrene without damaging the integrity of this (some would say vital, others would disagree) piece of equipment?

Aggie and Kim type advice welcome.

Cheers

Stig

Just throw it away, you know it is a waste of space...

The straps are the problem. TBH use a skull cap all year round - heat to absorb sweat, then the helmet evaporates it - works - I sweat like a pig. Winter, then it's a windproof skull cap.

For me helmets are good for cooling, with an associated cooling system (skull cap or buff).....

I ain't entering the helmet debate............. it saved my head, only a week long head ache last year... after a big off......(20 odd years of having no head/road hits..), and last week, I saw a helmet's effect of saving a bloke's face...... not pretty.....

That's just provocation.

I wash the foam pads with washing powder whenever the smell gets to the point where I can't stand it!

It's got to the point where I have to buy replacement pads now.
