I've got an itch that needs scratching..

I keep thinking about it, so it's time I did it. I want to take my big tent [billy no mates, as nobody wants to come with me] and plonk it down on a campsite within about 60/80 miles of Manchester. Then the intention is to ride out for say a 60 mile curcular route on quiet roads then back to camp. A different direction each day.
In recent years I've only toured with the little coffin tent. I want to experience a little luxury in my big old tent and a light bike in a different area. Hate it or love it, only one way to find out.
So my children, if you are so inclined let me know of any good places or routes.
Oh, I'm a big guy so don't want to be climbing all day.

bit closer than scotland but lent is still a weee bit far, but i would do it if one of your ride was slightly longer and took you down here

Monyash is a good central village in Derbyshire good pub and camping site, over the Cat and Fiddle though.
