....for a quid, from a stall on Leather Lane Market.

What will happen if I ate all of them in one go?

I've had two already.

They could give you a couple of problems if you have poor control of your blood sugar levels.

A guy I work with ate 2 family sized bags of minstrels in one sitting a few years ago after dinner, woke up a couple of hours later with a huge pain in his chest. He had a massive heart attack at the age of 41 because of this.

When they got him into hospital, he had to go onto insulin (turns out he was an undiagnosed diabetic)

He had to have a triple bypass at the age of 42.

He is off insulin now and on the same medication I'm on. I don't binge on chocolate anymore even though I have a terrible sweet tooth after seeing what it did to his health.

Then that's only about the same as a large doner kebab isn't it?

I don't know, but I'd much rather have the Lion bars than a manky kebab.

Although with the kebab you have an excuse (being off your tits) whereas with the Lion bars you don't.

So, just to recap, he's gobbled two large Minstrel's bags on the trot, and he's putting the heart stuff down to "sugar" intake...riiiiight....

What sort of mechanism do you think would cause heart failure after a high intake of sugar ?

Heart failure and strokes are a big killer in diabetics. High sugar levels causes blood clots. This is why we lose toes, kidneys, eyesight etc etc

You don't feel bad with high levels, but you do with low ones.

He was in denial for a couple of years after it happened and it took me to explain how the mechanism works or doesn't in his case - I've done a bit of reading up on this. It's my health innit
