I've done this too with gravity when going over the handlebars. Unfortunately the effects of my attempt at suspending gravity only lasted for a few seconds.

I'm keen to try again when I get out of hospital.

Assuming that "a few" seconds is at least 3, and that gravity wasn't actually suspended, that would mean a flightpath achieving the impressive height of at least 11 metres* above the ground. If some thought had gone into location of said incident, you could have carried out a rather quick inspection of your roof tiles without worrying about borrowing ladders.

* or 36 feet, or one tennis court width, or about 1 double decker bus length. Other units of measurement are available.

The exception that proves the rule
(I've never understood that phrase, BTW)

In the context of that phrase 'prove' means to test the rule to prove its value.

In this case, the word 'prove' is used in the context of 'test'. eg Alcohol is tested and given a proof number.
So, basically you have an exception (ie an outlier) that tests the rule, not confirms it.
