Do I read it right that this particular tubing is seamed?
Made in Altrincham, Cheshre. A pal has one and I jumped on it for a couple of miles. He's got 25mm tyres on it and I didn't check the pressures but the impression was of a super-smooth ride and very fast, possibly thanks to the no-name alloy rims with carbon aero shrouds he uses. It looks absolutely fabulous, really svelte and slender. The position was quite racy, which may also have helped with the speed. It was definitely smoother, faster and racier than my carbon Roubaix. Nice.
I've stopped seeing the problem with far east built frames. They're so reasonably priced because of different living standards and lower levels of h+s and so forth. They're where we were in the 50s and 60s on these measures. That's how I read it, a bit cheeky but they are not the only bike company to do it.
As @ianrauk says, the steel one looks the part.
Prices look reasonable, given there's some customisation in terms of choice of frame size and finishing kit.

It's not that specialised-there's plenty of outfits that can measure mitre cut and weld tubes over here-it just costs more.Just to be clear, I wasn't implying a problem of any sort. I fully get that's where the manufacturing expertise is, these days (outside of a few specialist hand builders over here).
More to the point it woul need the 'specialist' frame builders to stop playing with their bellybuttons and start building with more modern materials. Theres a few already. Not hard. It's not that specialised-there's plenty of outfits that can measure mitre cut and weld tubes over here-it just costs more.
