We got a brief respite from the rain yesterday afternoon when I was doing other things and couldn't get out. Now I have a free Sunday stretching ahead of me and it's pouring. Think I'll fit the mudguards and give the bike a good spruce up and maybe even nip down the road to see how well they work but as for going out for a proper ride.... I despair.

Maybe it's time to find a local Joe Bloggs gym and go and do some upper body work once a week?

Just stay at home and do some sit ups and press ups. Save money and get fit.

I've not ridden for about 6 weeks (apart from some commuting)! Seems normal for me this time of year
Might go out tonight though if the monsoon stops.

I've not been on my bike for about a month. Combination of terrible weather and working a lot. During the winter we try to do other things, like go for long walks, as it's often difficult to get out on the bike.

When I say difficult, taking the bike out of the shed is no harder than it usually is but cycling in heavy rain in the dark and freezing cold is not a lot of fun.

I could have nipped out in a sunny interval yesterday, for a few miles. I didn't. When I woke up, it was raining and I thought "oh good, don't have to feel guilty about not going out...". Then the sun came out, but I was already cooking my bacon sandwich. Now I've finished breakfast and thankfully the heavy clouds are massing again and the forecast is bad.

It's the time of year, surely. We all get a bit down due to lack of light, and in my case it's just enough to make carrying one of the good bikes downstairs too much trouble, and the winter hack isn't good for a long ride....

At least I know I have to ride 18 miles a week commuting, and walk a lot in my job, but I'm going to have to watch my food intake so as not to undo the summer. The job being physical wil help - I get paid for doing the sort of walking and lifting others pay to do at the gym....

I too am very fed up with the stupid rain. Have discovered that riding with a cast on is no problem, but riding with a cast on in torrential rain is a very bad idea.
I've got a waterproof cover for swimming and baths, but it wont stand up to cycling.

I confidently expect to go gently and totally insane from lack of proper pedalling in the very near future.

T'was not raining this morning at 7:10am but fresh puddles on the road when I opened the curtains. Promising I thought, at least by 9am it will be dry. Breakfasted, suited and booted, I set off at 08.05am for the start of the ride at 9am 14 miles away. But no further than 200m up the road it became as dark as night so I went back to get my over shoes. Set off again and 3/4 mile from home the skies opened. Was umming and arghhing whether to continue as the forecast predicted outbreaks of dryness after 9am for much of the day and importantly no rain. In my moments of indecision deciding whether to continue and feeling like a guilty shandy lightweight I was getting wetter and wetter. So as it got heavier and the rain clouds were 360 degrees with no bright sky in sight, I thought sod this for a laugh. Fortunately a nearby bus shelter, covered on all sides offered cover, so I didn't get totally soaked through, again. Last week got totally soaked, wetter than a fish. The rain was drumming on the plastic roof. It was 35 minutes before the rain finally stopped and passed although the skies still looked pretty threatening. I rode home not feeling guilty at all, well, only slightly. Had I continued would have also been cycling into a head wind for 14 miles in driving rain. Sod that. Go home, have a pain au chocolat, toast and marmalde . Plus last night I relubed the chain ready for today's ride. Hopefully it is dry later may go out if there's time otherwise the turbo trainer will be seeing some action. I hope it isn't another week commuting in crap weather .

Well, it's raining agin, so I'm vindicated.

I do have to go out for some milk later, so I might turn it into a longer walk. Although the middle of town will be heaving with St Nicholas Fair visitors, so I need to sharpen my elbows, and I'm not sure how passable the riverside path will be..

Sod it. I'll just pop to Sainsburys. If only I could order milk over the internet, and have it piped straight to the fridge...

Well after the torrential downpour and Hail...im off in a few mins to work but taking the car....suppose I'm lucky that when I get to work I will spend the whole day out on a bike....its either that or walking

I almost welcome the frost compared to this weather:angry:

It was snowing on me last night. Which was different.

Still had a great time, though I am just off to clean the bike now.
