I've stopped think about doing it

After thinking about it for long enough I have finally taken the plunge and commuted to work. 10 miles which wasn't too bad till the final half mile which is up a steep hill, well steep for me at 5.6%.

The only problem was I wasn't prepared, it was a wake up and give it a go moment. I had my works laptop with me, I couldn't take my safety shoes with me (I must leave a pair at work but hope today I have no need to go into our warehouse). I also forgot a hand towel to dry myself off after I had given myself a sponge wash-down, a lot of paper towel was used.

I will be better prepared next time!

With the weather getting warmer it only gets better plus the hill will become easier.

Both my short ways to work have hills. one of which is a 1 in 6, the 1st time I tried that one, I thought I know, power all the way.
I thought I would just race up the hill, hit the bottom around 25mph. half way up wrong gear, could not change down, had to stop get off and push the bike up the hill.
Took me about a week to figure out the best way up the hill., slow and steady and be in the right gear at the bottom
The other hill is not as bad, not as steep but a lot longer.

I have 2 12% hills on my way to work (quarter mile long each) .... both by choice, I don't have to do them. I see it as a good workout.

I was apprehensive about the journey home cause my legs felt tired. In reality I felt fine and was faster on the return journey, I don't know why I put it off for so long!

Ian, you need help! Putting in 12% hills is just not normal ^_^

Takes time to get in a routine. Baby wipes are ace if you have no access to showers like me.
