OK, apparently it's not legal, and I know nothing at all about ipods, because they dont interest me in the least.

However, my son wants to do this to his. Is anyone here willing to admit having done a jailbreak on an ipod touch 3G (or knows 'somebody' who has)?

I heard it was illegal, but some say it isn't. Whats your understanding?

OK, thanks.

So has anyone done a jailbreak on an iPOd? What software did you use?

This is where the thread goes eerily quiet, I suspect...

Jailbroke (?) 2 iPods (2nd Gen, 3rd Gen) and 3 iPhones (3Gs, 3Gs and 4), used RedSnow and JailBreakme. r3dsn0w was the easier of the 2 I found.

As long as you back everything up and pay attention, it's as simple as falling off a log.

i did with greenp0inson. i can use it with a bluetooth gps module to turn in into a satnav. downside (other than warranty) is that i can't upgrade without unjailbreaking it, so some apps won't work.

if apple were honest enough to release the bluetooth stack to work with anything, like the cheapest of cell phones do, there would be no need for me to bother…
