I am about half way through the Bond books at the moment, i too was astonished by his drinking habits.
He also smoked three packs of cigarettes a day.

but he does have his vast range of accents... from the Egyptian/Spanish bloke in Highlander to the Russian submarine commander in Hunt for Red October... to the young all singing all dancing Irish lad in Darby O'Gil and the Little People
