While at Ely (to visit the cathedral and drink some beer with some mates), we popped into the small museum, only for me to discover it had an exhibit about James Moore - reputedly the first person to win an official bike race.
This is a pic of me standing beside his machine. (It has adjustable pedals that can be raised/louvered on the cranks depending on leg length. The saddle has since perished.)

As the astute of you may have noticed, I've misspelt James' surname in the post title. As of yet, I cannot find a way of editing it. :sad:

That's why I included the coverall word 'reputedly' in the OP. :smile: The museum thinks otherwise.
You'd think given he was in the second race there might have been an outside chance.
