I heard Hugh Cornwell and and Jon Cooper Clarke being interviewed on t'radio the other day. Cornwell has produced an album featuring JCC doing proper singing.Having just bought tickets for The Stranglers I'm now worried that they may be going through a jazz phase

... if you like your jazz/blues in the Bessie Smith style, I urge you lo listen to some more Otillie Patterson, possibly one of the greatest voices and unsung talents of these fair isles. Whilst her best known works are with Chris Barber (the man who brought blues to the UK) she sang with many greats of the time.

.... very niche ....I am struggling to imagine what that even might sound like
I'm not keen on jazz, I prefer music.
Ackshly one of my fave singers was a bit of a jazz fan and his last album was quite jazzy. Hep cats will probably put this in the 'fast train to squaresville' category but I think it's rather good.
