RIP Jeff Beck

The most naturally gifted guitarist I have ever seen live. One of the all time greats who made it look effortless.

I hope he's jamming with Hendrix and Steve Ray Vaughan in the great gig in the sky.

I saw him perform in the early 1980's at a local hospital for the mentally and physically disabled ( I was a nursing assistant) of all places. I'm not too sure if it was for the staff, or staff and residents but he made an appearance on stage in the main hall for the hospital's Christmas party.

Very sad indeed. One of the genuine stand genius guitarists of his time. Inspired so many others. Lucky enough to have seen him.

Speaking when he was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time in 2009, Beck - said: "I play the way I do because it allows me to come up with the sickest sounds possible."

"That's the point now, isn't it? I don't care about the rules.

"In fact, if I don't break the rules at least 10 times in every song, then I'm not doing my job properly."

I think that sums up a lot of his appeal especially in later years. Unlike most of his contemporaries, he simply never stopped innovating.
