Did anyone listen to the Jeremy Vine show on radio 2 this aft. He had cyclists phoning in discussing how far they commute by bike, but i missed most of it. Wondered if anything interesting was said.

Couldn't believe that some people cycled 33 miles each way to work what ever the weather!!! Most did it to keep fit, save on petrol costs and save on gym fees, roughly saving over £200 per month !!

It was on at work but all I caught was somebody saying 15 miles was a long way to cycle and did anyone cycle further, didn't realise it was about commuting.

It was quite a short piece towards the end of the show. I think they mostly ran out of time.

Yes, an interesting discussion, and well worth a listen. One thing though, when Jeremy asked 'Niel from Nuneaton' how it feels "When you're late leaving work and you've had a wretched day and then you've got to do 25 miles" he responded that "It doesn't really bother me".

I have had bad days (24 mile round trip for me), but I find that once I've set off I ALWAYS enjoy it (far more than on the motorbike/in the car) and I arrive home feeling far better.

Oh and Jeremy mentioned getting a front and rear puncture on one commute.....how come none of these high mileage commuters mentioned Marathon Plus tyres?

And I'm sure that there are folk on here who do far more than 30 miles each way?
