I was in Moscow (well actually 5 hours south in 2' snow) Thurs, then Fri Working from 0400 in the morning to 2200! Home Saturday lunchtime, flew back out again Monday 0700 to Moscow and flew back home again today arriving home at 1830. Is it Christmas or Easter?
It was certainly cold.

And to think Britain goes into complete meltdown when there is 2" of snow

True, but you can see an awful lot of manpower employed to keep everything moving though.
At the weekend between the 2 visits I dashed into Decathlon to buy the warmest Parka they had .... the return visit's been much warmer :-)

We went to the Harbin Ice Festival and my hosts insisted on buying me quilted undertrousers. Without them I hate to think what would have happened to my nether regions but I did look like the Michelin Man

Yeah, positively balmy!

Last year we had -25 in the daytime at the same place in Russia, it was so cold the factories freezer broke!
True, at that temp you really need the Michelin man look if you are to stay outside for any length of time! My new coat has made a big difference.

The thing I learned was that batteries don't really work at those really low temperatures. Normal batteries that is. So my camera would lose power after 20 minutes exposed to -30. The only way to fix the problem was to take out the batteries, pop them inside my undies and wait for the batteries to warm up enough.

Thursday was horrible in Glasgow during most of the afternoon,went off briefly and then the rain came back harder,as I made my way home.
