@User how about testing outside the box thinking and candidates problem solving skills by asking a mad question such as "how do you fit a giraffe in a mini?"

It could break the ice a little and avoid boring repetitive answers to the more formal "how do you approach problems?"

either slice the giraffe thinly enough... or take the mini back to the drawing board and design it for a giraffe. Did i get the job?
 
"Have the parole board given any indication on the likelihood of remission?"

I hate it when they ask that one.
