I didn't get the job by the way guys. :cycle:

How ever, just sent of an email to a little cafe for a part time job to fill in some hours between no weekend work and I've been invited for a chat tomorrow. Sadly no bike commute but they do some good looking cake.

I have a job interview tomorrow.. And I wanted to make sure I knew where I was going. I'm getting the bus there, but wanted to make sure I knew where the business was.
A rather weird acquaintance of mine got a job in a town 15 miles away and hired a taxi on her first day so that she could follow it there in her car. She was sacked at the end of the month when she tried to claim it back on expenses.

I'd imagine that was not the only reason .....
You don't sack anyone for 'trying' to claim, you just reject the claim

Nonsense. Their only obligation was to pay her a week's notice money and they could get rid of her for whatever reason they choose, so long as it wasn't discriminatory.
IMO this was gross misconduct so they would have been entitled to dismiss her without notice, although I'm not sure whether they did. And of course you can dismiss for an attempted wrongful claim, which is dishonest whether it is successful or not.
