Well, that got me, I thought it was over the week!
We used to have "flexible" breaks at a place I helped close down worked at in the Midlands (Redditch). When it shut in early 2009 I'd managed to get up to Thursday 2nd February 2012 with my flexible breaks! Now that's being flexible!!

I did wonder if it was the pygmy shrew, which I think is the smallest in dimensional terms, bearing in mind that a bat has a big wingspan. But the Pipistrelle is the lightest.

Would that be the 45 or 55 Pipistrelle?

Spooky. Only today a colleague and I were laughing over a question on a kid's wildlife trail at the centre that asked "What is the UK's lightest mammal, weighing 5kg, the same as a 2p coin?"

He said he'd once seen a jam recipe that called for 875kg of sugar...

Oh, and assuming they mean grammes, it's the Pipistrelle bat.

Today the Guardian had an article about mammoth (as in large, hairy, frozen in permafrost, elephant-type beasts) ivory being used to make jewellery etc.. They said that the trade in this ivory had increased so that 60 million tonnes a year was exported to China from Siberia. And I'm thinking - the whole Russian population must be employed turning over the tundra digging for these animals.... or it could be that it was 60 tonnes
