They even sound the same. Is Jo Brand actually John Sergeant dressed in women's clothing?

yeah i read Jo's auto biography and she had to change her name to Jo Brand from Jo Sergeant because there was already a Jo Sergeant on the comedy scene. Very much the same as what actors do.

ISTR Jo Brand used to be billed as the 'Sea Monster' or summat like that - I've only seen her once live (in the comedy sense), and that was in the big circular room at the back of the Bedford Arms, Balham, circa 1987.

The other occasion I've seen her in the flesh was standing in front of me, waiting to be served, in the London Recumbents bike shop in Dulwich.

And I think John Sargeant was known as The Space Alien.
