I can't beat that but many years ago one of the neighbouring houses, which is converted into flats, had their York stone flags stolen. Some men turned up saying the Landlord sent them to do some work so the tenants let them in. All the stone flags were lifted from the basement floor, and the men left. The next day the men arrived and put all the flags into a lorry and left.
