Here for rides.
I run red lights, not all the time but when I'm 100% sure it is safe to do so. I cycle in the countryside as I cycle for training purposes and hate having to stop and start. I don't come across many red lights but the ones I do are not at busy junctions like you get in the city.

It would appear you ride like so many folk drive...

No doubt you're exaggerating about the family part as it aids your story but regardless I would have replied the same as the guy.

Troll or moron?

The danger from rljing comes from cars. A cyclist is far more likely to be hurt by a driver jumping a red than the cyclist jumping a red themselves.

Honestly? I think neither, this attitude is all, I'm sure, a side-effect of our society’s petrol addiction and the lead they used to put in petrol so we mustn't rush to judge the poor, afflicted, misguided souls, who ride bikes but still think with the mindset of a 'private car driver on a bike'

Were they all lined up like dominoes or did he have to swerve to make sure of hitting all of them?
Having said that, though, rule 1 is "give way to pedestrians" so even if he only "nearly took out" one of them, it's still too many. There's no actual purpose in getting angry about his behaviour but I can quite see why you would do

I've got nothing but contempt for anyone who goes through a pedestrian crossing against the red lights. Pedestrians have a shoot time of it as it is, without having to dodge people blasting through a crossing on red. Of course, a pedestrian is many many more times likely to be KSI by a driver than a cyclist, even taking modal share into account, so we ought to keep a sense of perspective.

I don't condone red light jumping on motor-only junctions, but I can't bring myself to outright condemn it: the vast majority of such infractions are done extremely carefully by the cyclist, for obvious reasons.

It is not often you get an opportunity to like something twice.

There's one RL that I habitually J. It's a filter controlling a right turn off a long, straight, usually busy road. But at 7:30 on a Saturday morning, there is normally no traffic at all for the filter light to protect me from, and I admit that I allow my impatience to get the better of me.

Am I going to hell?

How dare you presume to apologise on my behalf.

Right, so a cyclist jumps a red light and all of a sudden cyclists are taking offence at presumptions YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE. You're always stinking up these informative and helpful "I saw a cyclist do a bad thing" threads.

There's one near me where during one part of the phasing it's only red to stop traffic build up ahead - there is no reason at all why they couldn't put a cyclist only green filter. I am always very tempted to go through, as why should I be inconvenienced because of other people's poor transport choices, but so far have always chickened out.
