Take your bike to a reputable bike shop to get them to check it over to say whether the frame is OK and what other damage there is. Photograph it first.

Hope you are feeling ok.

if you join CTC you get their legal service through RSJ who wer very good for me, I joined after an accident and they dealt with everything after that, I can't see the claim beng les that a grand if the bike is totalled and you have injuries, be very careful to wait for any long standing injuries to develop

you should be able to get an interim payment for a new bike fairly early on, any decent LBS should be happy to quote you a new bike and decalre you bike totalled if it's had any sort of decent knock, but don't hold your breath on personal injury

the spot fine sounds silly but nothing suprises me about coppers and traffic accidents

I was in left lane, car came from where the give way signs are not looking right, police said because its a give way he could only fine her £30?.
Prize BS from that copper then. Any idea what the fine was for?

RJ&W are good and helped my son when he was knocked off.
I think the reaction of the Police is wrong and it sounds like lazy policing to me. I am sure someone better qualified will comment soon.
Any way glad you arent too badly hurt and get well soon.

Will I get a call from her insurance company tommrow?. if so what should I say if im going to get ctc or another to represent me?. My bike is a gt aggressor 3 old now around £400 at the time I bought it.
I think professional advice is required where personal injury is concerned, but re the bike, seeing as it's not a huge amount in the scheme of things, maybe ask the insurers if they will pay you the cost of a new one, plus any accessories/clothing that was damaged, it might be worth them settling immediately, rather than sending a claims assessor, having to pay for alternative transport in the meantime?

I think my injury is ok, apart from a sprain, cuts and bruising soon to be lol, I will have an xray to be safe tommrow, im not after money for injury just money for my bike.

Yeah, rubbish from the officer - he can do whatever he sees as suitable, and I'd agree that in this case depending on the women's previous driving history a driver improvement course or a straight due care charge would have been much better. I'd also, like Gaz, be interested to know what the ticket was for - I'd guess it was for failing to conform to the traffic sign, the Give Way but that's me guessing.

Either way, that won't affect your insurance claim which is a seperate matter from the police side of things. As everyone else suggests, go see a lawyer. Hell, go see a few and pick the one that seems best for you. They all tend to work in different ways - some will find some insurance somewhere that you have that covers you - sometimes this can even be your car insurance - and get their costs from that. A friend which made a claim at work found the Police Federation covered him as he was travelling to work - if you're in any sort of Union they may do the same. Others take some of your compo. If the CTC do offer retrospective insurance then that might not be a bad call at all.

Phone up the drivers insurance, you may get compensation for the injuries (I got over £2000 for a sprained ankle, cuts and bruises)

I'm back! Yippeee
That is what I thought at first, as she has admitted guilt to the police but maybe she has only admitted guilt of a lesser crime
i was in a car park i moved out of a space about 3 ft, a women then walked into the wing of my car ( i saw her come and had stopped) she played the dieing swan to atract atetion any names whitnesses ectect 18 mounths later along come her claim the whitness,s saw nothing she even described a vehicul that wasent my type or couler, and got the time wrong, huh thinks i she will be seen for the fruad she is. OH no my insurance company made her an 1800 pound offer whitch she snapped up, i was seen as cheaper and less risk than going to court !!!!! justice is a game for whitch i do not know the rules, liars win solisiters win we pay must not rant must not rant lol claim u cant lose

If you feel up to it, nothing to stop you contacting their insurer and deal direct. You may get something for the slight injuries, but get them confirmed with your GP so they are on record. If and cuts/bruises, then photo these. Dealing direct should get the bike sorted fast. Keep receipts for any bus fairs etc. As she admitted fault, and she has a fine, then you are over the first hurdle of liability.

If you turn out to have a more serious injury, then you need to go down the solicitor route.

Also worth phoning the police and asking why she was given a pathetic FPN when she may well have seriously hurt you.
