Just been in to Evans, unimpressed

Hi all, just come back from Evans Cycles near the Trafford Centre and I'm unimpressed. Shops not a bad layout but I made an Enquirey and was told not to buy that bike but buy the BMC which had a couple of hundred off it.
A bit crap really.

Specialised Diverge Carbon, my riding was over some tracks and I told him that it was a little top end but I wanted one, he advised the BMC Grand Fondo as it was cheap.

What bike did you enquire about, what bike did they offer you?

I have mixed feelings about Evans shops. Have only bought bits from them, no full bikes but the set up must feels a bit soulless to me.

Exactly. I'd be delighted if I went into a shop to buy X but was advised that Y would do the job and was on discount. I'm sure if you said "actually thanks for the tip but I really want X" then the salesperson would have sold you X

What exactly offended you buddy. From what i understand by your post the bike shop assistant recommend a cheaper bike to you, but the ultimate choice on what you wanted would of been solely up to you.

It seems to me like you put a hurdle in place by saying "t's a little top end" and the sales adviser advised you accordingly...

Exactly this. They offered an alternative that may have suited at a lower cost.

I've bought a number of bikes from there at various price points and always found them helpful.
