After spending weeks searching and months saving I've finally got my first road bike. Travelled to a few different shops and had a few test rides. Tested a specialized allez sport which had been my first choice and trek 1.2 in the first shop. Both seemed strange as all I'm used to is bmx. Then I went to look at some giant defy's. The shop was really busy and didn't get a chance ride one but decided straight away that o preferred the look of the allez and trek anyway. So off to another shop, which I eventually got too no thanks to my stupid sat nav. I found this shop online and Im glad I went. They had some good deals on a couple of last years models, which were better spec'd and lower priced than the 2 bikes i had already ridden. I had a good talk to the guy in the shop and took an Orbea aqua San Remo for a ride. I wasn't sure of orbea because I'd never heard of it. But people on hear said they were good and the guy in the shop echoed that. Had a good 10 minute ride on it and liked it. Then I tried a Scott can't remember which model it was but wasn't so keen. The riding position felt more upright and although the guy said it was the right size it felt a bit small. At this point in my mind I'm thinking the orbea felt nicer and it's got a better spec than the allez and the trek surely it's a no brainer. I still wasn't 100% sure though. So I asked for another ride on the orbea, and after blasting up the hill outside the shop I thought this is the one for me.
The guys in the shop were really nice and helpful and the bike seemed like a great deal so I bought it. They also threw in some shorts pedals bottle cage and bottle and a jersey for just a few extra quid. I'm pretty excited and can't wait to get out and ride it. Happy days.

Thanks. I can't wait to pick it up and get out. Already arranged a ride for next weekend with some mates. Told them they have to take it easy though.

Happy days buddy, congratulations on your purchase. Like Ian said, you don't see Orbea's all the time, and I think that's a good thing - I like bikes that are a bit different - equally as good as their peers, or even better at times, but dare I say, just not as common - good choice.

It sounds like you found a quality LBS there. Keep in with them, you'll reap the benefits for years, a good LBS can be hard to find.

I'm sure you'll be amazed by the speed you generate when you start tearing up the tarmac, especially coming off of a BMX.

Ride safe :bicycle:

Sounds like you have got yourself a great bike, from a great shop.

Dont forget to name and praise once you have it, and you MUST put up some pics or no-one will believe you have it!!

Yeah I like the fact I've chose something different. Seen loads of people riding trek and specialised. And it feels and and looks good. Thanks to those on here who helped by giving me a bit info on them as I'd never heard of orbea.
I'll post some pics up if I can figure it out. I'm not great with computers haha

Cheers mate. Yeah the people in the shop were really good. Even though it's quite a drive for me I'll defo stay in touch with them.
The speed of it was something I noticed straight away and how easy I could blast up the hill outside the shop. Something I did find a bit alien was sitting down and pedalling as I'm used to standing up all the time on my bmx. I'll obviously get used to that and the riding position.
Hope the weathers good at the weekend as I have plans on getting out and stretching my legs.

Awesome. I am in the same boat, having just got my first road bike in 25 years. I love the way it rides, and I guess from your post that you feel the same about yours.

Enjoy!

Nice one! Orbea are lovely bikes, I'm sure you've made an excellent choice.

Thanks mikey. Think I've made a good choice too. Wasn't sure about orbea as I knew nothing about them. But people on here said they were good and I like the fact it's a bit different. I told my mates and they were like orb who?
Really happy with it and just can't wait to take it for a good ride. Roll on Friday.
