Well, VC I'm sure it will be worth every penny my son paid! He gave the tickets to my husband (his step dad) for his birthday last year! Think he'd done him a few favours now and again and husband was so overwhelmed that he actually went round personally to thank him (he's not a visiting bod you see).

Husband actually queued up to see them when he was at Uni in the 70s. He introduced their music to me when I met him in the 80s.

Any idea how long the show lasts VC, so we can find out what time the car parks/trains finish? Should I take my camera? Flash?

Max 2hrs 30mins, there is a 20 minute interval. If it's an 8pm start you will certainly be out of the building by 11pm.

Photography is allowed, but no flash because it simply doesn't work and distracts everyone.

Utterly agreee. It was many years before I even owned DSOTM (and it is a classic). Yeah Prog Rock Britannia was great. Did you see they even interviewed the guy from EGG (Mont Campbell). I have always had the thought that 'real' music stopped after 1973. Old fart that I am.[ quote name='MontyVeda' timestamp='1305740098' post='1673280']
Yeah I like Ummagumma... I like them all really but tend to get a bit snotty with their post DSOTM 'formula' albums... they were more fun as an experimental band.

Did you catch that BBC4 programme a while back called Festivals Britannia? They interviewed Stacia... and a whole bunch of relatively unknowns including Kieth the Bass from Hear & Now and Gong.

Well, we went, saw and .......... FANTASTIC! Sadly no Gilmore and Mason there but I had no idea of what it was going to be like, just thought it would be him singing with band playing behind. I was told it is a concept show! Quite different from other bands I've seen. Wow!

We were quite early and were going to get something to eat beforehand, walking around The Printworks area of Manchester, someone came out of Pizza Express and said to us (not knowing where we were going), it's half an hour wait to eat and the doors open in half an hour. The audience seemed to be split between 'middle aged' men and women and then young people. Practically every person around that area seemed to be wearing a Floyd T shirt of some sort.

Glad you enjoyed it. You do have to think of it as a theatrical show rather than just a gig.

VC Yes, that's true and I didn't have any idea that it was so, OH didn't tell me. I think he just wanted to surprise me.

We were top level to the right of stage, so everything looked very small but the atmosphere was electric when it started and I jumped! There was the Stukka, a helicopter and a pig floating around not all at same time of course.

As I'd only ever seen 10cc and Barclay James Harvest before that's what I expected.

There was no opportunity for anyone to get on stage. I must say it was a bit scary looking down that level, I'm not afraid of heights but you do realise what a hell of a slope it is.

I'm gutted at this. Saw Waters in 1987 for Radio KAOS tour, then in the 90's with the In The Flesh Tour, was it the 90's or 2000+. I saw Floyd at Wembley Stadium in 1988. And then saw Gilmour at the Royal Festival Hall in 2002 and Bridgewater Theatre, Manchester for the On An Island tour just a couple of years ago. Needless to say when this tour came up I was delighted until I saw the ticket prices . I ended up not going as I simply couldn't afford it. God I'm glad I am a public sector worker on the gravy train

Thanks goodness for YouTube

It was seriously expensive I had trouble justifyinf it to myself, if it had been a straight concert then no way, but because it was the full production, building the wall etc i found the money. As regards Dave Gilmour, that was just me being a lucky bastard.

I am jealous for the rest of eternity  . Still, there's always the Aussie Floyd, who are excellent and are on tour in 2012.

I saw Aussie Floyd in Leicester a couple of years ago, they do put on a very good show, well worth the money.
