I am currently running Windows 7 and I am very happy with it, I have been constantly reminded I can upgrade to Windows 10 but after trying to help a neighbor who had a problem with Windows 8 it has made me reluctant to upgrade. I know 10 is meant to be an improvement, but I don't like the format. My computer is compatible for 10 or so it says.
Should I go for 10 and just get used to the different layout, are there clear improvements. I have an old Lexmark x2550 printer, would that be compatible.
Last minute advice most welcome.

I am running 10 and previously had everything since '92'.
The basic layout is same old same old - everything looks pretty much the same to me.
Only thing I use that's really useful is the feature that allows you to call up a nice tiled interface with one click on a little windows icon in the bottom left of the screen.
You can configure this to show any app's/programs/folders that you wish. It is really handy and you can group them into user defined headings such as Programs, Leisure Programs, The Outside World, Utilities, Quick Navigation - which are mine!
Only other thing I use is the split screen/multi-screen option when I am working on more than one spreadsheet.
Apart from that it's all the same to me and (just like Apple) MS make one hell of a hullaballoo about very little at the user end of new OS's - I know a lot goes on behind the scenes with a new OS and the multiple scenarios in which it is used although I often have no idea what they are 'talking' about at times.
