One of the few things I miss about playing in brass bands is the carol concerts at christmas.Know the feeling. I play in a brass band. First Christmas gig this aft - switching on the lights in Selby - then its about 3 or 4 a week until the actual day. Last year I played carols for the grand opening of a garden centre. It was so early I still had my poppy on!
I love Christmas, but hate all the commercialism. The other problem I have with it is that as I'm a music teacher I have to start preparing for Christmas early enough that the kids can play in their Christmas concerts at school. The first one is at the end next week! So I started doing my Christmas tunes with the kids in the first week back after 1/2 term = 1st Week of November. I'm sick to death of 'Jingle bells' already!
You've just put yours up then Vern?Live and let live. We all have different tastes and if someone wants to spend lots of money on baubles and electricity to celebrate Christmas who are we to say that they're wrong?
Nope. I do find some of the displays wondrous and I'm happy to let folk spend their cash and get enjoyment from it however they want. The Chateau Vernon baubles have been located and moved to their pre-erection spot from the attic position where they'll remain for quite a while yet. You've just put yours up then Vern?

How very true.I'm also mindful of: 'What you say about others says more about you than it does about them.'
