My Dad, has got a Solar powered set of lights out on one of the trees in the garden to test how good it is.

Just wait, he will have all the tacky flashing lights up in the porch and hanging from the eaves before long...

I honestly think the earliest Christmas decorations should go up is midday on 24th December and the latest they should come down is midday on 26th December.

I don't hate Christmas itself; I just hate all the commercialised hype surrounding it.

I love Christmas, but hate all the commercialism. The other problem I have with it is that as I'm a music teacher I have to start preparing for Christmas early enough that the kids can play in their Christmas concerts at school. The first one is at the end next week! So I started doing my Christmas tunes with the kids in the first week back after 1/2 term = 1st Week of November. I'm sick to death of 'Jingle bells' already!

I feel sorry for you JK. I hate Jingle Bells so much I only have to hear it once & I'm sick to death of it. I do start to feel a bit more festive when I hear 'Fairy tale of New York' on the wireless for the first time; that's when I start to publicly acknowledge the fact it's Christmas time

Tradition in our family was that the decorations went up on he 13th December, my brothers birthday.
I still tend to do that and they come down on 2nd January which is long enough for me!

We don't put up outside decorations but do have lights in the front windows of the house.
Now my kids are older I'd rather be somewhere else at Christmas! Saying that I have three lovely grandsons and I'd love to share the magic again with them!

Know the feeling. I play in a brass band. First Christmas gig this aft - switching on the lights in Selby - then its about 3 or 4 a week until the actual day. Last year I played carols for the grand opening of a garden centre. It was so early I still had my poppy on!
