Let's apply a bit of love and understanding...

I just want it minuted that on BoaB's Santa thread I asked for world peace and everyone to be nice. I thought I was the only one but apparently Noodles is going in for Miss World too.

You see, a season of I'm a celebrity and the world is a better place!

I reckon everyone on CC should nominate me for the Nobel Peace Prize next year - but I suppose I'm a bit to 'peacey' for that given one needs to be involved in a couple of wars to win nowadays

Wow! I go away and help my Mummy through her 90th birthday (she got more scratchcards than the tobacconist round the corner), Man Utd lose and there's a massive ultra-serious postfest taking place.
Just to clear something up, I read what I fancy and reply accordingly. Unless things were repeatedly 'extreme' than I wouldn't complain - I just wouldn't read. After a while, in all the fora, we recognise the 'general style' of posters and know what to expect. Usually, though not exclusively.
It takes all sorts but I wouldn't want to offend anyone - if they are not gruntled then they must be 'nuts'!
Sea of change though; I was so troubled by my thoughts this morning that I started a thread in P&L as a form of cleansing...no good though - I still fancy a beer, and I'm still troubled!

Tone is something that can be difficult to get across on a forum. There is no vocal intonation, no facial expression, no body language to guide you as to whether someone is being serious, sarcastic, jovial, etc. so it has to come across in the form of expressive writing.

The only thing I would add - and this applies to all of us really, on any forum - is to re-read your reply before posting, and to drop in the occasional smiley when you're posting tounge-in-cheek.

The re-read often highlights things that others may possibly take the wrong way, and helps you clarify (with a bit of considered editing) what you really want to say; the smilies also help to emphasize when you're not being too serious.

Cheers,
Shaun

Bonjy baby has got a forum?:ohmy:

What's its theme, knitting, gardening, wallpapering? Do tell.

I believe it mainly discusses traffic wardens, farmers and cricket. ;)

Oh yeah, I had a look there the other day. I got fed up trying to find a legitimate thread amongst all the spam ones.

You want to get yourself some decent mods, you do.

i've changed it to approved registration only now and deleted all the spam.

I'm not offended by the posts.
I'm offended that someone would choose to continue posting in a similar vein, despite having numerous posts deleted and having been asked politely and repeatedly to refrain.
I'm further offended by them then posting an 'explanation' that says 'This is how I am and I'm not going to change'.

I'm offended that someone should be expect people not to post things that only offend a minority.
I'm also offended by your offendedness.

PS - The above was a joke. Never found your posts to be aggressive, but then maybe I read them inside my own head in much the same way as I'd deliver similar... so with sarcasm etc.;)
