....well, six actually; Jensen Button drove his F1 car up and down the streets six times.

Oh.... My.... Flippin'..... Gawd!

I have never experienced such a massive disturbance of noise and shock to my cosy little world, I can only say that a narrow miss by lightning must be something like that. It was loud but what was extraordinary was the shockwave it created, the explosions of power from the exhaust on overrun and the smell of the unburned fuel - presumably methanol. Everybody in the crowd just went "Waaaah!"

Any pics dude?

So it JB that's caused all the rain today is it with his thunder making?

I watched the season finale Le Mans series race at Silverstone last year, the noise of the top level Le Mans cars like the Peugeot's and Audi's must be on a similar level. We were initially in a stand at the final corner, and when they put their foot down to accelerate into the start/finish straight the noise reverberated through the stand and was almost unbearable.

I bet there was some Oik in a lowered Saxo thought he could go quicker, and will be giving it a go in Aldi car park tonight.

That's why you wear ear plugs if you go to the F1 races.

I'm 6 miles as the crow flies from Brands Hatch.
When the wind is in the right direction I can sometimes hear the motor racing.

F1 cars are bloody loud...

Bit OT, apologies. Back in 2000 I went to the flicks at Pilsworth, (Bury) to watch Gone in 60 Seconds. Driving back down the A56 Manchester Road towards Bury there was a Police speed trap watching cars heading towards Bury

To this day I'm convinced they knew what was showing at the cinema and were expecting easy pickings of all the young lads racing home in the very own 'Eleanors'

Listen to this recording of a BRM V16 from 1953; 600 bhp from 1.5 litres at 12,000 rpm:

I think this is Nick Mason's car; my son has a book called Into the Red about his car collection, which comes with a CD of the engine noises. When eventually they got it running for one lap it sounded amazing, according to the book an elderly colonel turned up at the race track gates in his Rover having heard the unmistakeable sound from his garden several miles away!

What a fantastic noise, everything should be made to sound like that, even your watch.

I've never heard an F1 car live, but at Brands for a Superbike round a decade ago they had a low level fly past by a Tornado and a display by Harrier. The noise from both was awesome, you could feel the ground vibrate as the Harrier hovered about fifty feet above.
