She seems to be painted as a master manipulator in all of this.

This always looked to me like one of those situations where nobody had actually made clear to the staff that they shouldn't use the credit card for their own stuff so they took a bit of a liberty, even though they may have suspected it wasn't right.

Many years ago was sat in a Chinese with family and a friend (wife?) of Alexi Sayle came in to collect takeaway whilst Alexi waited outside. I happened to notice him and when the lady walked past, said to her to pass on our appreciation and that we think he's very funny.

He then quietly walked up to our table for a quick 2 minute chat which was totally unexpected and really fun. You can be famous, stay out of the media spot light and still be a thoroughly decent person.

I wouldn't call either of the defendants 'little people' - even as PAs they had a lifestyle a long way from the rest of us.
I can't say I have a view on Nigella's integrity one way or the other. Clearly there was a prima facie case or the CPS wouldn't have prosecuted, but I'm not sure whether the complaint to the police came from Nigella or from Charles Saatchi.
