Justification for owning several bikes

I recently sold the following because they were not being used
a DF trike
2 wheel recumbent
two folders

Justification?
I don't smoke
I don't go with loose women
I don't drink much
There are no pockets in shrouds

I only need to justify it to myself. And that's easy Deciding what n+1 should actually be is a little harder.....

Hmm - I got up to 16 machines at one time ... now down to just 8 + an upright trike that I've yet to master riding! Reality is that I ride about 4 on a regular basis.

Your list is extensive and eclectic, to no clear purpose. This concerns me greatly.

Your justifications are nothing of the sort. They appear more like Jesuit-style denials of joy for joy's sake. This concerns me just as much.

Further to which... if you fully enjoy smoking, heavy drinking and base, frivolous carnality you will find that there is no need for pockets on a shroud.

You will be utterly, uterly broke.

My justification is I am a part time anorak(certified) and own 5 bikes and a homebuilt swb recumbent. Two of the bikes are commuters as I use 1 as backup just in case. I salvaged a 1970's Sun bike from the local tip which is complete and running. 2 Puegeot road bikes, one of them I purchased recently from a close friend that passed away. I am looking round for a decent off road bike but thats in the pipline at present. The bicycle/cycling is my life time hobby its been a part of me for a number of decades and you need more than 1 type of bike for the other disciplines there are in cycling. All my bikes get ridden at some time of the year, some more than others.......
