Why does not wearing headgear feel strange? (genuine question) I'm a slap head, hat in winter to stay warm, usually remove it due to getting too hot on my bike. Light cap in pocket for spring and summer, never usually used, maybe to stop chronic sunburn. Doesn't really feel any different wearing something or not.

How about a sweatband.

A flat cap can be quite dapper, if you're on the right sort of bike.

Don't know, but it does for me too. Outdoors I almost always wear a hat, and when I'm not on a bike it's usually a flat cap - Harris tweed, corduroy, moleskin in the winter, linen in the summer, light tweed in between, waxed cotton when its raining.

I just feel weird outdoors without a hat, which is part of the reason wearing a cycling helmet is not a big decision for me - I do sometimes go out for short rides without one, but it still feels strange.
