I have to use an ID card to get through the doors at work. That is on a lanyard that goes round the neck.

I have a spare lanyard that even on non-work rides that where the keys are. I know where they are then.

However, I only take the house keys and bike lock. Car keys etc stay on another ring.

There's a little clippy hook inside my rucksack that I clip my work keys on (on a paper clip!) and my D-lock key goes in the big pocket down the back (inside) of the rucksack. House keys normally get chucked in the rucksack and I spend forever faffing around outside the front door.

Lanyards are the answer

I have 6 bunches of keys in regular use, all are on differnt coloured lanyards so you can put them around your neck. Also just chuck them in a pannier. Even in the dark they are easy to find even if they have slipped to the bottom

Ive got a small zipped pocket of the front of my pannier I tend to keep them there and on other non pannier rides I keep them in a small wedge bag. I used to keep them about my body, usually in a zipped pocket, as I was paranoid about loosing them out of an open jersey pocket. Then it started to play on my mind if I had a simple of where would I rather I had them against my body or in the bags.

Likewise. That's what the pocket is for.

On non-commuting rides, sometimes they go in the pannier or the handlebar bag.
If I'm in lycra, they're in the jersey pocket, if not, then they're in the pocket of my trousers or shorts....

Why would you put them anywhere else???

My keyring is a dog-clip, but a carbine clip does as well. Clip to your belt-loop & hang them down in your pocket; or clip to a zip. Or clip to under the saddle on one of the strut things.

A fair number of jackets these days have little plastic bits to clip stuff on.

One of the jersey pockets on my back next to my phone.
That's the most convenient place although not recommended if you crash and somehow get impaled on your Yale key..

Well I had mine in my cardi pocket this afternoon and as I was cycling I was trying to work out where the slight scraping sound was coming from - rather relieved when I realised it was just my keys:blush:. More normally they are in my coat pocket or chucked into the pannier with everything else resulting in me emptying the entire thing out trying to find them.

Got waist pockets on the rucksack securing straps - handy for access whilst wearing the pack. Keys, tube, swipe card, phone, 'p' kit and multi tool go in them.

If on the road bikes on a training run, then (door keys only) are 'elastic banded' to the spare tube/multi tool pack in my rear jersey pocket.
