Anyone any experience of it.

I have a patella tracking problem: Two physios and an MRI scan later, it's still a problem and I've yet to find someone I trust to sort this out for me. So far, I've solved most of it myself. Potentially I've another recommendation who I might pay to see as I need to sort this out long term with the right exercises.

In the meantime, pain has flared again after a turbo session on the bike and playing with the patella and the way it moves and tracks has led me to a point where I can put weight through pain free if the patella is in the right position. I've done some searching online, watched a few vids and had a bit of tape which someone gave to one of my sons for a foot problem. I've applied this, done some one legged squats and all feels good. I don't look forward to pulling it back off my hairy knee but that's another story.

Has anyone else used this stuff with any success?

A friend of mine gets on ok with it, but she has dreadful scar tissue and impingement issues and it's only temporary (she also reacts badly to the tape)

I've had it for various orthopaedic woes (knees and elbows), never helped very much but that's not to say it's not a good solution for some things  When you take it off, make sure you do in the shower or bath. It's far easier when when (and I don't have very hairy legs)

Sometimes operations are needed to solve maltracking (to protect the cartilage on the kneecap and trochlear groove) but assume you've discussed that with an orthopaedic specialist specialised in all thing patella and physio is the solution

No, is the short answer. The consensus, from two physios, is, it's not bad. The last physio told me that it's far better to solve it than to go for a referral and possible op. The fact I can alter the pain myself leads me to believe I can solve it. I've just done six weeks on the bike after 8 months off and it all went well. I've just been out now for a quick test, no pain, so perhaps the tape is helping, I'd need to experiment more.

The MRI scan showed nothing other than my right patella is bipartite, which it probably always has been. My right knee has never been perfect and aches when the mileage goes up. I'm generally not in pain but unless I can solve this, I will ask for a referral but things have been gradually improving since I first did this. I think I probably stepped up too much last week. I blame @nickyboy and his LLangollen ride which I'm aiming to do.
